The rules for using Carivo. Written to be read, because most of them come down to two things: the numbers are estimates, and what you post has to be honest.
Who these are with
Carivo is run by Claudiu Florin Olaru, Calle Cristal de Riviera 3, Riviera Village, Mijas, Málaga, Spain. It is not a company. In these terms "Carivo", "we" and "us" mean him, and "you" means whoever is using it.
Browsing Carivo needs no account, and these terms apply to it all the same. Creating an account means you have read them and agree to them. If you do not, do not create one — and if you already have, you can delete it.
How your data is handled is in the privacy policy.
What Carivo is, and what it is not
Carivo shows cars for sale across the EU with an estimate of what each would cost you to bring home: the asking price, plus registration tax where you would register it, plus transport. It also keeps a directory of businesses that help with that.
What it is not:
- Not a party to any sale. Buyers and sellers deal with each other directly. Carivo does not sell cars, take payments, hold deposits, arrange transport or broker insurance, and takes no cut.
- Not a check on the car or the seller. Nobody at Carivo has seen the cars listed. A listing is what the person who posted it says it is. Inspect the car, check its papers and history, and be suspicious of anyone who wants money before you have done that.
- Not an endorsement of a business. Directory entries are checked by a person before they appear, to keep the list to real businesses. That check is not a review of their work or their prices.
Carivo is free. If that ever changes, it will be said clearly in the app before anything costs you money — not discovered afterwards.
The numbers are estimates
This is the part most worth reading twice.
- Registration tax is calculated for Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, Italy and Poland only. Every other country shows reference notes, and several of those say to check locally, because we would rather say nothing than guess. Rates change, usually every year, and a car's exact figures can move it into a different band.
- Transport is filled in from the distance between two countries and nothing else. Driving a car back yourself and paying a transporter are not close, and the person who posted a listing may have put in their own figure instead.
- Landed cost is those two added to the asking price, so it is exactly as reliable as they are.
None of it is tax, legal or financial advice. Before you commit money to a car, confirm the tax with the official calculator for the country you are registering in, or with a local agent. We work to keep the figures right and correct them when they are wrong, but we are not responsible for a decision made on an estimate that turned out to differ from the real bill.
Your account
- You must be 16 or older.
- One account is for one person. Keep the password to yourself; what is posted from your account is treated as posted by you.
- Use an email address you can receive mail at. It is how we reach you if something you posted is removed, and how we recognise a request as yours.
- You can delete your account whenever you like, in Settings → Account. What that removes is listed on the deletion page.
Posting a listing
You can list a car you are selling, or a car you have found for sale elsewhere and want to put on Carivo. Either way:
- It has to be a real car that is really for sale, at the price you give. Take it down when it has sold.
- The details have to be true as far as you know them. Price, year, mileage and country are yours to enter and yours to be right about — Carivo never fills those in from a link, on purpose.
- Say where it came from. If it is someone else's advert, name the site or the seller in "Where you found it".
- The contact details must be yours, or ones you have permission to give. Never someone else's number without their say.
- Photos must be ones you are allowed to use — taken by you, or with the permission of whoever took them. Pasting a link can offer you the photo from that advert: it usually belongs to whoever posted it, so take it only if you are entitled to.
What you give Carivo permission to do
What you post stays yours. By posting it, you let Carivo store it, copy it and show it to people using Carivo, wherever they are, for free and for as long as it is on Carivo — which is what showing a listing takes, and nothing more. That permission ends when you delete the listing or your account, except for what a report about it keeps, as the privacy policy explains.
What is not allowed
There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. One breach can be enough for a listing to be removed and an account closed. None of the following is allowed — not in a listing, a photo, a description or a directory submission, and not in how you treat someone you found through Carivo:
- Scams, fake listings, bait prices, and asking for money before a buyer has been able to see the car.
- Anything that is not a car for sale — other goods, services, adverts, links to elsewhere dressed up as a listing.
- Stolen vehicles, or cars with hidden defects, outstanding finance or altered mileage that you know about and do not disclose.
- Content that is illegal, hateful, harassing, threatening, sexually explicit or violent, or that targets a person or group.
- Other people's personal details, or photos you have no right to use.
- Duplicates of the same car to take up more of the list.
- Pretending to be someone else, or to be a business you are not.
- Using the contact details you see on Carivo for anything but asking about that car — no marketing, no mailing lists, no selling them on.
- Collecting listings or contact details by script or at scale, getting around the limits on how often things can be done, or anything else meant to disrupt Carivo or reach data you were not given.
Reporting, blocking and removal
Every listing has Report this listing and Block this seller. A block works straight away and hides that seller's listings from you; nobody is told. A report goes to a person, and nothing is taken down automatically because of one — a single complaint is too easy to use against a competitor.
If you think something on Carivo is illegal and would rather not report it in the app, or cannot, email carivo.cc.app@gmail.com with a link to it and the reason. Reports are read and acted on as quickly as we can.
We may remove a listing, a photo or a directory entry that breaks these terms or the law, and suspend or close the account behind it. If we remove something of yours, we email the address on your account saying what was removed and why, unless the law stops us. If you think we got it wrong, reply to that email and a person will look at it again.
The directory
- Only submit a business you own or are authorised to list.
- Submissions are checked by a person before they appear, and can be turned down.
- Listing is free. The directory is for finding businesses; bookings, quotes and payment happen between you and them, not through Carivo.
- If your business is listed and you want it changed or removed, email us from an address that shows it is yours.
Other sites
Carivo links out: from a listing to the advert it came from, from "Search another site" to that site's own search, and from the directory to a business's website. Those sites have their own terms and their own owners, and what happens there is between you and them.
Articles on the Carivo blog are general information, drafted with the help of AI and chosen for publishing by a person. They are not advice about any particular car, purchase or tax bill.
If something goes wrong
Carivo is in development, free, and provided as it is. It may be unavailable, slow or wrong, and features may change or stop. We fix what we find, but we do not promise it will always work.
As far as the law allows, Carivo is not responsible for:
- anything that happens between a buyer and a seller, or between you and a business you found here;
- what other people post, beyond acting on it once we know about it;
- a tax or transport estimate that differs from what you end up paying;
- losses that are indirect, or that nobody could have foreseen.
None of this limits responsibility for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow to be limited. And nothing in these terms takes away rights you have as a consumer under the law of the country you live in.
Ending this
You can stop at any time by deleting your account. We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and will say why unless the law stops us or the account plainly exists to abuse Carivo. If Carivo shuts down altogether, we will say so in the app and give you time before your data is deleted.
Which law applies
These terms are governed by Spanish law. If you use Carivo as a consumer, you also keep the protections of the law where you live, and can bring a claim in the courts there.
Changes
If these terms change, the date at the top changes with it. A change that affects what you have already agreed to will be announced in the app before it takes effect, not only updated here.
